I hate grade complaints. I’m a pretty fucking easy grader compared to many other Writing Program instructors, and still students complain.

I empathize with this version of Emily Dickinson…perhaps more than is healthy.

Dude seriously just hit on me by comparing me to the founding fathers. What. The. Fuck.
Seriously: who the hell are you if you think comparing a person to George Washington is going to get you laid?
HOW DO PEOPLE LIKE THIS EXIST? AND WHY DO THEY THINK I’D BE INTERESTED IN DATING THEM?

notallmcsareequal asked: Geno’s Cheesesteaks in Philly?
Yo, just because Boyz II Men stood in front of that shit, doesn’t mean it’s not fucking racist as fuck. Hey, fuck you, Geno’s, you’re a racist piece of shit.Yet another reason you should always buy your cheesesteaks at Pat’s instead.

Can’t really tell what’s going on in Beatrice’s mind. The vet warned me that she’d probably go through a mourning period…but I’ve never seen a cat mourn the loss of another cat (growing up, my family only had one kitty at a time) so I have no idea what to look for.
Yesterday, Beatrice didn’t seem to want much to do with me apart from playtime and food, but today, she’s been following me around like a puppy. She slept in my bed last night and came over to hang out on my chest and lick my nose as soon as my alarm went off. Since then, she’s been hopping in my lap for a few minutes of snuggles every so often, which is helping me feel a little better. Sylvia was totally at ease with being handled (by people she knew, anyway) and nearly always down for a human-initiated snuggle, whereas with Beatrice, being picked up and held for more than a few seconds is treated as some kind of grave, undignified injustice; any cuddling/purring has to happen on her terms.
It’s just hard to tell if she’s seeking me out for extra attention today because she’s also grieving Sylvia’s loss, or because I turned the air conditioner on and the apartment is cooler. I wish she could tell me what she’s thinking. It would help both of us feel less alone.

The human body and not the steam engine, and not even the clock, was the first machine developed by capitalism.
Silvia Federici, Caliban and the Witch (via mirrortheories)
Has anyone read this and can vouch? It sounds up my alley. Also, Foucault.

This book is actually at the top of my summer reading list. Everyone tells me it’s phenomenal.
